Most factions start with only a province or two and you’re building an empire. It’s also a more traditional total war game. Each culture feels distinct, almost like warhammer. Rome 2 is a lot easier and has a lot more diversity than Attila. I’m an Attila fancy boy though, I love the time period and the aesthetic, and the charlemagne dlc is great. The wandering tribes, you’re looking for a juicy piece of real estate to steal from the Romans and settle on. The Persians and the small factions in Africa and the Middle East play more like a traditional total war game. Cut your losses where you can and build up where you can easily defend, and strike out late game after you’ve weathered the storm to take it all back. Playing as the Romans is a survival game. You’ve got Romans and Persians, horse nomads, and a lot of wandering German tribes that all play pretty much like Romans in battle… sword infantry. There’s also a lot less faction diversity in Attila. It is poorly optimized and and doesn’t run so well for a lot of people but I’ve never had problems with it. If you don’t mind the difficulty and not get discouraged by defeats than give it a go. Think we missed one?
